Our hopes for this term

Isaac:

I would like to get a 3 in at least one of the events in Athletics. I would also like to get in the top 10 for the Talent Quest. I would also like to get a 2 in high jump because I normally only get a 1. In the disco I would also like to do some more of the announcing on the stage.

Owen:

I would like to make it over the high jump and get a very high score in the long jump at the Athletics. I want our band to play well at the rock fest.

To Glow Or Not To Glow

For the past couple of weeks Mapua School has been frantically getting ready for the Science Fair Expo day on Friday 9th September. In rooms 2,3,4 and 14 the classes have each entered a entry for the Mapua School Science Fair (MSSF). In the rest of the classrooms some friends were pair up in groups of 2's, 3's and 4's. Only eleven groups could get into the Nelson Science Fair.

Max and Isaac's science investigation starts here:

Our science fair investigation was about if a normal light would charge electrons more than a red light. To carry out the experiments we set up a light (one was normal and one was red) in a box and had a video camera filming the glow in the dark stars to see the reaction. We left the camera filming for about 2 and a 1/2 hours; After the 2 and a 1/2 hour we would check the video on the video camera.

HOKEY POKEY YUM YUM

For science we made Hokey pokey to practice the method and a fun experiment and it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yummy. We had to make a makeshift bowl out of tinfoil and put in some golden syrup, brown sugar. Then we put it over a gas flame and stirred it till it boiled. Once it started to boil we had to add a teaspoon of baking soda and stir quickly. Mrs Stephens spoiled us by bringing some icecream to have with the hokey pokey.

Mrs Stephens was very naughty because she burnt a hole in the carpet.

Back To School For Term 3

Isaac's First Day of Term 3

Getting up on Monday morning at 7 am was tiring but I eventually dragged myself out of bed and got ready for the school day.

When I arrived at school so many people were talking about their holidays. The morning started off like a usual Monday morning but halfway through the day Emma and Zarek started to go quite mad because they found out that they were one of the School Is Cool Finalists.

Flynn's First Day of Term 3

I had to rush to school after I had slept in to 5.00am. Some people think school is boring but I like it because it's more fun than staying at home with my brother. When I arrived at school no one was in the class because it was the first day of term 3.

Isaac and Owen's thoughts about Summer Tournament

We are looking forward to all the activities at the Summer Tournament next Tuesday. Especially the play ball. We have practiced a lot of both Volleyball and Ultimate Frisbee. We would like to win at least one game. Last year we did fairly well. So hopefully we will do great this year.
