Michael Rosen Poems

We have made some awesome poems about what we like and what we dislike. My poem was about Easter Day which is my favorite day of the year! And here is an example of my poem, I hope you like it.
The Easter Sensation

I love Easter I’ve always have.
Every morning every night, I think about it all the time.
When its Easters eve, I think about it so hard I burst into thousand of fleas.
Now its time to say good night, good dreams are coming tonight.
Its 6:30 I can’t hardly sleep I’m so excited I can’t even speak.

Half an hour later, I’m finally awake, its easter!!!
As I hoped out of bed I can already smell the goodness of rich chocolate.
My Mum and Dad were out already out they said to me “go and have a look in the bag you'll find lollies there”.
As I opened my bag I saw nothing there, I looked around the room as I saw my dad grinning with a laugh, What had happened last night!

MICHAEL WAYNE ROSEN’S POEM’S.

MY PINK TUTU . . .

I made cake in my fluffy tutu!!!!!!
my tutu was pink as a bubblegum
I have a pink strawberry stocking that I wear
Now their covered in sticky chocolate
What do I do?
I can’t tell mom,
I can’t tell dad,
I can’t tell my sister,
I can’t tell my brother.
My tutu It’s all sticky,
It use to be pink,
But now It’s brown but yum It’s chocolate.

The cake is yummy.
It taste like creamy chocolate,
It’s so gooey
It’s stuck to my teeth
Did I bake It?
I’m not quite sure
Is It meant to be gooey?
Its very sticky I feel sick, to much chocolate
I guess I should tell mom?
Or dad,
Or my sister,
Or my brother.
Should I tell or should I not.

Micheal Rosen Poems

Micheal Rosen Poems all turned out fantastic. It took a couple of days but it was worth it. As they all were very funny or informative. I know that everyone did enjoy it. Everyone had a different topic that they did it on some examples are, Christmas, Easter, School and lots more. And here are some of our poems

POI!

The first time I touched that poi
I knew it was for me
I held it in my hands
And swung it in delight
Tried to catch it I don’t know what happened
But it hit me in the face!
I knew I wasn’t great
But I know I soon will be

As we learned
How to use the poi
I knew that it wasn't hard
and If I practiced I could be as good as good

So I practiced some moves
Over and over
Until my arm was nearly broken
And found that I can,
Use that poi

Now I can do it well
And are teaching others
In Kapahaka!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!
It is nearly Christmas eve and everyone is really pleased. My sister and brother are ready to unwrap presents. My mum and dad are really excited but sad at the same time because all the presents have made one big bill. When us three kids went to bed dad came in and read a book to us called Jack and Jill. Man that is a great book!!!

What if.. I stay up all night? What will happen? Will I get a fright? Maybe Santa will not come and then everyone will call me a bum. Maybe I should just get some rest because tomorrow I will do my very best. I am really excited I have definitely run out of breath! Now all is left is to get a good night rest!.

My own holiday Michael Rosen style poems

My own holiday

Fun

No brother

No sister

No house work

No home work

Just all me

My holiday started with

Movies,games of soccer,

Riding billy man walking up

With rocky boy on the end of your bed

Taking weird and bazar pictures

What’s not to like

You feel happy,free,great,fanatic

All at the same time.

You wake up with sounds

Of the chickens in your ear

And the sound of the birds

When you walk down the stairs

You feel like nothing can stop you that day

So where am I .I hear you say

I could be any where france china and many more but for now

I with just stick in my head as long as i use my imagination i can dream it all UP IN BED.

This is our one we hope you enjoy this poem.

Micheal Rosen

We all wrote Micheal Rosen poem's mine was on Panthers....
To see the muscles ripple beneath the night black fur,
I say “what a creature, with those yellow gleaming eyes”,

I twist to watch that magnificent creature circling me,
It disappears into the night playing with my mind,
I see a flash of yellow, then a black bullet,

I hear a rustle, then a snapping twig,
I feel those eyes watching my every move.
I think its coming, I think I'm dead,
I yell into the night “come out and face me”
I stomp on the ground when all is quiet.
It is coming, it stalks me, I hear the hissing of it breath on my neck,
I feel the sharp claws rip me to the ground,
I turn to face the panther of the night. I think its in front of me,or behind?
I let out a cry of pain and anger as the gleaming white claws slice my back to ribbons,
I swing a fist but it only slices the air where the panther had been,
It sprints along the barren treetops
I see it, now I don’t I hear the air slush behind me I feel the the serrated teeth grasp my neck
Now I don’t feel,Now I don’t hear , ,Now I don’t talk, Now I’m dead.

Soccer

Every Friday at Mapua School it comes down to a full on game of soccer with the Year 8s vs everyone else. It's a fast paced game with slide tackles, fouls that do not count and a perfect curling ball into a goal. It is a fun filled game, so come and watch.Kynan

ski day

We had lots of fun at rainbow ski field, I learnt to ski down the shirt front backwards
DAN
Mapua on a cold morning, but it was worth it! We went to rainbow ski field all of room 9,7, 5, 8 & 11 went and had so much fun on the snow.

A Grade Gymnastics Competition!!!!!

Gym was on Thursday 19 august 2010.
Gym was exciting everyone was excited.
We all had butterflies in our tummies.
Everyone got involved in the activities and enjoyed it.
Now it was our turn to do our floor routine and i reckon we did good better than our practices.
We got 49 points out of 100 even though we didn't win we still had a lot of fun.
GO GYM!!!!!!!!!!

Ski Day

There was not that much snow but definitely enough to have a good time, and this year strangely there were no arms or legs broken!

HEYA ROOM 11!!! =)
Thursday the 19th was an awesome day!!! Some of us went skiing :P, while the rest did...
GYMNASTICS!! :D We were all ready to go and came to school and double checked on the dance and our floor and stuff, then we set off, we all had the excitement and knew that on the day, we would be perfect! We arrived and warmed up with none other than ZUMBA! :P It was er, cool.
But after that, the real challenges, first up, floor one we all did great on that! Then vault, little scary, but we managed to pull it off! We had a break and ate all of Ellie's biscuits, then back onto beam! We were all good on that, but lucy (me) couldn't chasse, but at least I finished it and got good marks. Then long vault, we ALL did handstands, no matter how scared we were, and we all succeded! WOOP WOOP! Then floor 2, Cacilda did the demo, and then lunch, we all had a nice big wedge of Lydia's cake and the rest, after lunch we had to wait a while until it was our turn to do the team floor! It was really cool, we may not have got a placing, but we all still came away with a big smile on our faces :).

Snow day

The senior syndicate of Mapua School went to Rainbow Ski field on the 19 of August. As soon as we arrived we were rushed over to the rental shack to get equipped with our boots and skis', then we hit the slopes the beginner slope it was epic we twisted and turned but we managed to reach reach the bottom, Phew! We all had to have lessons to get a grip on the skis' afterward we had free reign. We started off at the Pomer (Intermediate Toe) We had to manage the toe to get the top some kids had epic fails on this toe such as Daniel Reid others like Nikau Webster and Hayden Squance strutting their stuff. The T- Bar also had its fair share of fails such as Jake Mclachlan falling off the toe but still regains his balance just to fall of again and get dragged by the belly up the toe until after much encouragement from Hayden and Mrs Stephens to let go. While Jordan on the other hand suffered going up and down owning himself in a pile on, on the way up but got a cool ride on the snowmobile. Overall it was a day of epic stuggle and big falls but we still think it was one of the best days of the year!

Gymnastic

Gymnastics was a great experience. I had never done Gym before for the school. It was great fun especially when Lucy and I snuck away to do some kart wheels around by the toilets at break time.
We didn't come 1st 2nd or 3rd but we did around 6th or s0mething like that. We all had a really good day so it didn't really matter what pace we came because we know that we did our best!

Decision Time!!!

Over the last two weeks we have been visiting the colleges. We have been impressed with all the High Schools as we toured around the them. Hayden and I have been impressed with all the opportunities they have to offer such as the sports pro, the science rooms and the technology areas. We are going to have a tough decision choosing which High School we are going to.

Written by Sam and Hayden

College Visits

One of the open evenings were at Waimea College. Waimea College was a very big school and had a variety of opportunities. Waimea college had a very good first empresion and looks like a very good school and staff avery nice. One thing that stood out was the new gymnasium. This gymnasium is huge and will be ready next year. Overall this looks like a very good school and could be the the best college in the Nelson Region.

Storm and Jake
Getting the tour of the colleges was really exciting I liked seeing the different activities and options that the colleges have to offer. My favourite was the science lab where they were doing really cool experiments. I am really excited about choosing a college and I can't wait to start.
Hana

Cool Schools....

Well, we all went to High School open nights. We went to Waimea College and it was awesome, I loved the science experiment with the dry ice and helium.

Michael + ??????

College Vists

We are working our way through all the different secondary schools and are trying to make the all important decision of where we are going next year. So far we have been to two colleges. First we went to Waimea for a look around. Our first impressions were good and it looks like a great school with heaps of options and a new gym! The second school we went to was Nayland it had really good hooks to get you to go there with their really cool science experiments with lots of different classes and information. We got to taste some really nice ice-cream made by liquid nitrogen, and saw a container explode and picked up jelly beans with chopsticks. We are going to Nelson girls for the opening night on Thursday. This is going to be a very hard decision as all of the colleges look really awesome!!!!!!!!

By Alice and Lucy

College Visits

We have been to most of the College visits, we only have one more visit and that's is Nelson Girls/Boys. I really enjoyed the Nayland but I think that the best at the moment is Waimea. We were really impressed with the effort that everyone has put into the colleges and the time that they have taken to show us around!!
Done by Hayley & Laura!

Decisions, decisions......

There are so many colleges around our area and none that people dislike and would not send there children to. The colleges are going to be our next step up after primary. We have been to most of the open nights they have all been inspiring to us. The girls and boys who showed us around the colleges were great, they had a laugh and joke with us WHICH was nice at the time! The best colleges that shouts out what we need in a college is so far is Waimea college. We hope that Waimea will be good to us when we are in high school.

Colleges.....Where to go! ♥

Hey guys its Lid and Luc, ✰
As you know us year 8's have to make a big step up ☝ to college and the decision of where to go is not easy.☹ There are so many choices and all the schools around here are brilliant!☺ Most of the open nights have already been held, they were interesting and informative. Still to come though is the Nelson Collage and The Nelson Collage for girls open night. Lydia and I, are both thinking of going to Nelson College for Girls as it has a wide range of opportunities and is located in a convenient place. We are both really nervous and excited about making that big step of going up to college and working in a year 9 atmosphere. Its going to be a new adventure and we are looking forward to it.❤

KAPAHAKA

At the moment we are learning a new haka and a new song called Poi E. We practice every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at Fitness time. All the girls have to do the haka as well as the boys because we only have 11 boys and they won't be loud enough. But the lucky thing is that the girls don't have to do the actions.

Kapahaka 2010

On Monday and Tuesday mornings and Tuesday lunchtimes Mapua School students get together to practice Kapahaka. We are practicing because in week 9 there is a Kapahaka fun day in Motueka. The boys of the group are learning a new haka.

School Singing =)

Today was the first whole school singing this term. We started of with the national anthem and then we learned a new song. The new song was all about welcoming new students, staff and visitors to the school as the lyrics explain. Then we did 'down on the corner' where Room 7 showed us their groovy moves =). I hope when we get back into the singing again we will sound a lot better and professional! =p

The FIFA World Cup!

The FIFA World Cup is the biggest event in the world, because there are millions of teams that are involved in it and people who watch it all over the world! So far New Zealand has won non and drawed 2. YAY!!!!! But I am going for two teams and they are New Zealand and Germany!! So go them. I really hope that we get a good placing in the FIFA World Cup, and I hope everyone is praying that too! So that's the end of my point of view for you guys about the FIFA Cup!

Go The All Whites!!!!
By Laura T

Fifa world cup

GO THE ALL WHITES!!!!

The All Whites are staying in yay yay! We have so far drawn all of our games against Solvenia and Italy, the soccer has been one-one for both the games. These are the first world cup points they have got in the world cup beating the 1982 effort, which is pretty good for New Zealand. However, on the 25 June the All Whites will try to bet Paraguay in the world cup and hope to get more than one goal this time.
by Renee

Room 11 bets on who wins the Fifa World Cup

Room 11 is having a competition for the Fifa World Cup, how we did this was put all 32 teams into a hat and each student would have to draw a team out. The person with the winning team at the end of the World Cup wins! The student that wins the competition will win a prize that we don't know of yet!
Hayley's Team that she drew out of a hat was Cote d' Ivorie and Lydia's teams were USA and Paraguay.
The Teams that are in the World Cup are close with their games! It's tough to watch to see who wins.
Lydia's Team Paraguay is the next on the list to verse the All Whites!!GO NZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Done by Lydia & Hayley! =) x

Hi Kynan and Jake here we are going to tell you about the world cup and how the teams we picked are going.I picked out of the cup Uruguay and Italy ,Uruguay tied with France 0-0 and defeated South Africa 3-0 . Italy tied with Paraguay and New Zealand. I picked Brazil to win , Brazil defeated Korea DPR 2-1, and also wasted Cote D'Ivoire 3-1. kynan. I pulled out of the cup Serbia,Serbia defeated Germany 1:0 but lost to to Ghana 1:0 the i picked to win was Italy. Jake

Soccer World Cup

For the soccer world cup, our teacher Mrs Stephens got us to choose a team out of the hat (well, a container), and I was last to pick and I got Greece. I have no interest in the soccer so I just chose Greece as my pick as well. Now how are they going well the first game they played they lost 0-2, the second they won 2-1 and the third they lost 0-2 . So not that well. Now all the games in their pool are finished they are third and out of the running to be the world cup winners! But anyway the only persuasive thing in it was the CHOCOLATE BAR you win if your team wins it.

By Lucy

Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup!

Before the FIFA world cup commenced Mrs Stephens started up a class bet, the winner receives a chocolaty prize. Each class member chose a team and you also got to pull a name out of a hat. I chose Netherlands and got Algeria and Japan. Netherlands are probably doing the best with a victories over Japan and Denmark while Algeria hasn't done to well with only a draw and a loss while Japan has won one and lost one. Overall I think I'm not doing too bad with a team in first place in their pool another in second and a third in last.

All Whites Day!

Go the All Whites! It was Tuesday the 15th 2010 and all of Mapua School dressed up in white and black to support the All Whites. As lunch time started it was time to have the Mapua School soccer game! It was Teachers vs The Year 8, so as the game got under way. Storm scored the first goal for the year 8's and then movements later Mr McKenzie scored two more for the Teachers! So The Teachers WON 2-1 to them. But I think we did a great job, even if we lost.

White Out Day!..!!

The Ball

We had the ball and we were ready to score but then the great all mighty teachers came running after us. We paniccd and with sweat dripping down our faces we grabbed the soccer ball and ran our fastest dribbling round the giant teachers. We were nervous and worked because we would never here the end of it if we missed.......
He lines up the kick, he kicks it goes flying and smashes into the net we score the crowed goes wild but afterwards the correct score I'm sorry to say is that they won 2-1 and we are never going to hear the end of it.

All White Day

As we walked into school there was a wave of white everywhere you looked. As we made our way into the classroom we got ambushed by white face paint, so we matched the rest of the class that had been attacked to. But this was only the start. At lunch we all gathered big and small to watch this incredible game with conflict between the TEACHERS and STUDENTS dun dun dunnn! The students were the first to score but where followed closely by the teachers, as they puffed their way down the field. Lots of hand ball where called as well as outs by the ref that was actually playing on the teachers side. At the last minute the teachers sneaked through the defenders and got that final goal that caught us all by surprise!

All whites white day!

Wow guys I have never seen so much white in my life!!! We were supporting the kiwi team very well, yesterday we really sent the message across! The All Whites did an exceptional job last night with a draw, 1-1 against Slovenia. Also Mapua School has been doing an awesome job supporting the All Whites through the World Cup with "my greatest feat". A super job from all students. Lets keep our fingers crossed in hope for the All Whites in their extraordinary journey of the Fifa World Cup 2010! :)

All the best for the All Whites and we hope they get further than they've ever gone before!!! Keep watching the World Cup and keep supporting your team!

All White Day

''Yeah! Goal!'' On Tuesday the 15th of June 2010, was the All Whites first game of the FIFA World Cup. To support the All Whites Mapua School had an 'all white day' where everyone dressed in white. Also on this day the staff and students squared of in a competitive game of football. The first goal was scored by Storm of the students. Then the staff struck back with a header from Mr Mac. The game was tied then the half time whistle blew. It was a nail biting finish but in the last play Mr Mac took a shot from around 30 meters out and sailed over the goal keepers head and scored in the bottom left hand corner. So that was it, the staff had won.

Speeches

We really enjoyed writing our speeches and practising them then finally we had the chance to speak. Everybody enjoyed it and gave it their best shot and we are really glad to get it over and done with. Everybody's overly anxious to find out their scores for their speeches including us. Speaking in front of our peers was really hard and everybody was nervous. Although everyone did well Lydia and Samuel did exceptionally well and went to deliver their speeches to Room 7 and did a fantastic job their and helped Room 7 come up with new ideas for their speeches. Overall everybody worked really hard to get their speeches done and capped it off with top notch deliveries.

Nikau

speech

Hi my speech was only 2 minutes long. It needed to be 3 minutes so I added in a little bit to make it longer. I did my speech on smoking. It was all right but I was disappointed that it was too short.

by dan

speeches

On Tuesday the 8th of June Room 11 had speeches everyone had a great speech although some had to redo them because they were too short. You could tell that no one liked being up there but everyone still tried their hardest.
Room 11 speeches
Room 11 speeches were done on June 8th on Tuesday, everyone got the chills even Mrs Stephens.
From obesity to global warming there were lots of categories, our speeches couldn't be better. From Lydia to Jess it was a long wait. Some people had to change their turns, because of their keynote. I was 6th, but I did it 3-4 times 'cause I didn't reach the time limit, and eventually I was 5 seconds off in the end.
Now I think I should have done more work and known my speech better or it will turn into custard. I wasn't the only one - a few more people had to do it but only twice. In the end my speech about saving the environment would have sunk in because if I heard a speech 3-4 times I would have done anything to help the environment! I think everyone enjoyed it in the end. It was fun.

2010 Speeches

On Tuesday the 8th June, it was time for the 2010 speeches. As everyone got ready for their part to go next, it was finally my turn! I got so scared as Mrs Stephens called me onto the stage, because I had heaps of butterflies in my stomach. But I got used to the idea of being up there, because all I thought of was starting and finishing my speech so I can get though the day without making a big mistake. My speech was about littering and rubbish, and my speech was 3 minutes actually. But I didn't care because I made it anyway! Thanks for reading my speech, I hope you enjoyed it!

On Tuesday the 8th of June we had to do speeches. We had been working on our speeches for around four weeks. On the first week we started our speech but only the introduction. On the second week we started looking for information and researching our topics. We ended up taking about three to four weeks. But the end speeches were fantastic and some had keynotes and some didn't. Some people presented their speeches a bit too fast, so they ended up having to do them again. But all in all the speeches were awesome.

Speeches

All our hard work practising our speeches, well most of us anyway, was going to pay off today as we were presenting them to the class!!!! People scrambled to finish their slide shows before the first speech started. Everyone's speech was very well done and practiced except for a few people who got a bit nervous and zoomed quickly through their speeches and were under the time. Repeating some of the speeches wasn't the highlight of the day as we had already heard them. Some slide shows some of us were unable to look at as it was rather graphic because they where trying to get a strong message across. At the end of the day everyone was relieved that it was over and couldn't wait till the year's to come with 5 minutes speeches!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speeches

''So now I ask you, fire, friend or foe.'' And so started the Room 11, 2010 speeches. On this legendary day Room 11 were ready to perform the speeches they had been preparing for the last couple of weeks. Throughout the day there were many great speeches delivered by the class. Some of the speeches fell short of the time limit and they had to redo their speeches, which they were not so happy about. The children where allowed to choose if they wanted to have a slide show but it was not essential. Having a slide show made the speeches easier to understand and gather info from. Overall the speeches were great.

speeches

The speeches went well. Everyone gave it a good go.
Only a few people had to do it again.
Mrs Stephens said ''You all did a great job and we should do it again.''
Some of the best people delivered their speech to Room 7 who I bet enjoyed them.
Over all it was a successful day.

Year8 Speeches

The time had come on Tuesday the 8th when Room 11 had to present their speeches to the rest of the class.
For most of the class, public speaking is a challenge especially in front of their peers. Everyone had interesting subjects to present and they were very informative.
All of the speeches had a topic that caught the classroom attention because they had said about what the students had learnt in the process of making their speeches. Some were even heart breaking to listen to and see the pictures on their slide shows. But they were really fantastic!!!!!
It was very nerve racking being up there and trying to project our voices and do all the thigns we could to make us get good marks for our speeches, it was very hard staring and not embarassing yourself but once you got started you were fine.
There were a few people who were under the stop time and they had to do their last 3 que cards, but all in all the speeches went very well!

The cross country was a great event that got everyone's heart pumping and even the adults decided to get active and join in. Although everyone tried their best and gave it their all, there has to be winners and the winners for our races were , Nikau Webster in third place, Patrick Hewson second place and Samuel Wilson first place for the boys. The girls winners were Renee Reid in third place, Hayley Reid in second and Alice Reade in first for the girls. It was great to see the support of the children and adults alike. Overall it was a fantastic and interesting event for all, we really enjoyed it.

On the 31st of June the whole school walked down to Aranui park.
It wasn't as wet as last year but it was still amazing. Thanks to Mr T we had an awesome cross country. Year 8s went first and we had to do 3 big laps and 1 small lap I was puffed and couldn't go on . Everyone got involved even the parents and teachers especially Mrs Stephens. Over all everyone had a great day.

cross country

The day began just the same as normal except for one thing the cross country was today.
loads of adults and children gathered at Aranui Park to wait until there races were up. Ours was first we ran around the huge track three times and did a mini track once.
We ended up having to run three kilometers (and a half) it was tiring but fun.
I will never forget it.

X-Country

As your feet hit the start line you could feel a buzz of excitement. What place am I going to to come in the Mapua School X-Country? We sprinted at the start with everyone cheering and yelling we pressed on and came to a steady place and found our place in the race. People were obviously cheering for Red!!!!Green!!!! We finished our laps one after another, around the mud in Aranui Park, getting more tired by the speed of each step. We all ducked under the rather low hanging finish sign, with a rather long speed stripe up our backs made of mud that came up from under our soaked feet. A sigh of relief crossed us as we gave our placing to Mrs Barns. The last cross-country at Mapua School for our lifetime!!!!!!

cross courtery 2010

The school cross counteey went well as every student try their best no matter what place they were coming in they raced towards the finish line. When students came across the finish line they all had a smile of enjoy saying "yay finally no more running". The winners for the year 8 boys were
1st Samule Willson
2ed Patrick Honson
and 3rd Nikua webster
for the girls
1st Alice Reade
2end Hayley Reid
and 3rd Renee Reid
The track was hard and all the rain had made the track very very damp and wet. Many of us landed on our butt as we we ran around the corner. The parents also got active and had their very own race.
